Now is the Time to make your Move!

Start your morning out here!
Start your morning out here!

If you are thinking about buying or selling, now is the time to make your move!  All indicators in the Dallas market will point you in the direction of moving sooner rather than later.  If you are currently paying rent in Dallas, chances are your monthly costs are greater than if you actually owned a home.  All of your rent money  is not adding to your bottom line and you would be better off buying your first home.  Did you know that there are tax advantages to home owners? On a $100,000 mortgage your tax advantage could be $2900.00 annually.  What a nice surprise when you do your taxes and get that kind of deduction!

Another reason to make your move now is Interest Rates.  Interest rates continue to be at all time lows and therefore more people are buying and selling. These rates are not going to stay low forever.   In the Dallas metroplex, we continue to have a shortage of homes to due to these lows and the influx of people moving into our neighborhoods.  The shortage is going to continue as large corporations, such as Toyota and State Farm, build offices here and bring more people to our area.  With our prices being lower than many other states, these people will have more buying power when they arrive.

Home sales are up about 8% and home prices do continue to rise.  Now is the time to jump in with both feet whether you have a home to sell and want to get top dollar or if you are buying for the first time and want to get the First Time Home Buyer discounts and the tax advantages that come with home ownership.  As a Realtor in this market I have the “Recipe for Real Estate” and I want to share that with you.

Today’s Recipe:  Don’t Heat up the Kitchen Tomato Basil Pasta

The thought of spending long hours in the kitchen in the summer is not my favorite.  I much prefer to grill and whip up something fast as I sip a glass of really cold Pinot Grigio or Tequilla with some Texas Heat (jalapenos!)  Bon Appetit!

  • 1 cup fresh basil, minced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • 6 roma tomatoes, dice
  • Combine above and let sit on counter for at least 45 minutes  (the longer, the better)
  • Cook 3/4 lb. linguini in boiling, salted water until al dente.  Drain and immediately toss with tomato, olive oil mixture.  Add in cooked chicken to make a delicious main dish or serve as is for a vegetarian entree or side dish.  Sprinkle with fresh parmesan if desired.  Enjoy.
